The South Plains Astronomy Club is a small group of active astronomers who enjoy observing under the beautifully dark West Texas skies while being serenaded by coyotes and night birds. We’re a friendly bunch who enjoy showing newcomers the night skies and discussing the latest in telescopes, astro-imaging, astronomical discoveries and space exploration.

SPACE NEWS

There are a number of websites that report current news on astronomical discoveries and space exploration. Links to a few are provided below. A word of caution— the vast majority of stories on these sites are legitimate science, but occasionally you'll see a story that initially looks like it might be legitimate science but, on further reading, actually turns out to be something promoting non-scientific ideological viewpoints. These stories are usually quickly taken down, but you may catch one before that happens. So, be a critical reader.
