NGC 288

NGC 288 is a globular cluster in the constellation Sculptor, located not far from the Sculptor Galaxy (NGC 253). It was discovered in 1888 by John Dreyer. This cluster has a visual magnitude of 9.37 and an apparent diameter of around 13 arc-min, making it easily seen in large binoculars or a small telescope. The main hindrance to viewing this object is that it stays close to the southern horizon for observers in mid-latitude North America.
